Here is a brief information about myself. I completed my Ph.D. in the Department of Decision Sciences and Engineering Systems at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy, NY. I was born in Erzincan, Turkey and got my bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. I am a Data Miner by training. I am particularly interested in Support Vector Machines as a machine learning method.

Under supervision of my advisor, Kristin P. Bennett, I defended my thesis "Learning with Capacity Control: A Semi-Supervised Approach." in June'2000. Please click here to download my thesis. Before departing from RPI, I also worked as a Post-Doc in an NSF funded project named "The Automated Design and Discovery of Novel Pharmaceuticals using Semi-Supervised Learning in Large Molecular Databases". I was PI on a research project titled "Data-Mining Driven Markdown Management System Prototype for the Turkish Apparel Industry" funded by The Scientific and Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) with my colleagues Ufuk Kula, Tankut Atan and Gurdal Ertek.
